The multi-awarded Read to Lead Program started as an idea in 2007. The idea was to create a project that would inculcate the importance and the power that reading can and will offer a child. But the idea never flew and came to life before December of 2007 mainly because several analysis and survey went through before the planning stage even ensued.

Though the general idea was exciting, the members realized that there have been a lot of book donations left and right from various organizations that never really hit the heart of the objectives of their projects. The Local Organization saw several full-packed libraries that had untouched and unread books. Thus the Read to Lead Program was launched.

It has so far been honored with two JCI Philippines Temiong Awards as the Best Education for Peace Project in 2008 and 2009.

The last time JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel conducted a concert as one of its projects was when they collaborated to bring The Lettermen in 2007 at the Waterfront Hotel Lahug, Cebu City.
